B&B Italia is an Italian furniture manufacturer founded in 1966 in Novedrate, Como, by Piero Ambrogio Busnelli, who introduced cold-formed polyurethane technology to upholstered furniture production. Originally established as C&B Italia with Cesare Cassina, the company was renamed B&B Italia in 1973.
The catalog grew through long-term collaborations with Afra and Tobia Scarpa, Mario Bellini, Gaetano Pesce, Renzo Piano, Vico Magistretti, Antonio Citterio, Patricia Urquiola, Naoto Fukasawa, Jeffrey Bernett and Doshi Levien. The brand has received four Compasso d'Oro awards, including Le Bambole by Mario Bellini (1979), Sisamo by Studio Kairos (1984) and Sity by Antonio Citterio (1987).
