Clare Brass

Clare Brass is a British designer known for her work in sustainable and socially responsible design. She is the founder of the design studio, Made by Many Hands, which specializes in creating ethical and environmentally-friendly products.

Brass studied industrial design at the Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in London and later worked as a designer for several prominent brands, including Habitat and Tom Dixon. In 2003, she founded Made by Many Hands as a way to promote sustainable design practices and support traditional craftspeople in developing countries.

Through her work, Brass seeks to create products that are both beautiful and socially responsible, using sustainable materials and working closely with local artisans to promote traditional craft techniques. Her designs often incorporate recycled materials, such as reclaimed wood and repurposed fabrics, and are intended to have a minimal environmental impact.

Brass has received numerous awards for her work, including the Ethical Business Award from the Observer and the Outstanding Contribution to Sustainable Design Award from the London Design Festival. She is also a frequent speaker and writer on the topic of sustainable design and is committed to promoting sustainable practices throughout the design industry.

Today, Brass continues to push the boundaries of sustainable design, inspiring others to adopt more environmentally-friendly and socially responsible practices in their own work.
