Pierre Paulin
Pierre Paulin (1927–2009) was a French designer born in Paris, recognised as one of the most influential figures of twentieth-century European furniture design. His seating designs of the 1960s and 1970s — including the Mushroom, Tongue, Ribbon and Pumpkin chairs for Artifort — defined a new sculptural and tactile vocabulary in upholstery.
He designed interiors for the Élysée Palace under Presidents Pompidou and Mitterrand and collaborated with Magis on contemporary reissues. The 3D Model Unity catalog includes high-precision NURBS 3D models of Pierre Paulin pieces for Magis, available for Rhinoceros 3D.
Magis
Magis is the Italian furniture brand founded in 1976 in Motta di Livenza, Veneto, by Eugenio Perazza, recognised internationally as a benchmark of contemporary industrial design and known for collaborations with Konstantin Grcic, Jasper Morrison, Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, Marcel Wanders, Jaime Hayón and Stefano Giovannoni.
The brand pioneered new uses of injection-moulded plastics, rotational moulding and aluminium die-casting in design furniture, producing icons including the Air Chair by Jasper Morrison, the Chair_One and Brut series by Konstantin Grcic, and the Bombo stool by Stefano Giovannoni. Magis also operates Me Too, a dedicated children's collection. Production is centred in north-east Italy.
